The Bottom Drawer
This collection of work was made for the Live Project, a project run in association with the Crafts Council during the second year of my degree at Cumbria Institute of the Arts.
The tradition of the bottom drawer is associated with women growing up and getting married. I chose to consider a contemporary version of this tradition looking at the idea of preparing yourself for leaving home and being independent.
I created a range of functional interior pieces in ceramics and textiles. The pieces work together as a collection which would provide a good starting point for people getting ready for living independently
As a selected student in the Live Project my work was exhibited at Cumbria Institute of the Arts in from May 2006 to May 2007.
