Discussing the Derbyshire Excellence in the Community Awards he explains how Clare, the youngest award winner ‘was there to demonstrate that attending a family pottery class can lead to a Royal Society of Arts national ceramic design award.’

Clare has been awarded an Excellence in the Community Award by the Derbyshire County Council. The award was given in recognition of her achievement in becoming a Fellow of the Royal Society of Art after receiving the 2007 Ceramic Futures award. Her early love of ceramics was nurtured by family pottery classes at the Hunloke Centre in Chesterfield. Without the encouragement and enthusiasm of the teacher who continues to run the family pottery classes Clare might not have begun the journey to designer success.
